HackDavis 2022 Course Contest  

Official Rules 

  1. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. PURCHASE DOES NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW. Contest open to participants 18 years of age or older. Contest is sponsored by UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education (“Sponsor”). 

  2. ELIGIBILTY: Employees, officers, directors, agents, representatives of Sponsor, and their immediate family members and those living in their household, and each person or entity connected with the production or administration of the Contest, and each parent company, affiliate, subsidiary, agent and representative of any aforementioned entity are not eligible. 

  3. HOW TO ENTER: One entry per person. Enter the Contest by completing an inquiry form and joining the Sponsor email list at 2022 HackDavis event. Entry period begins on or around April 16, 2022 once HackDavis shares the Sponsor form with attendees or the form is shared at the HackDavis event; and ends on or around April 17, 2022 at the conclusion of the HackDavis event or once any follow up emails are sent to HackDavis attendees. 

  4. SELECTION OF WINNER: By Monday, April 18, 2022, one (1) entrant will be identified from among all eligible entries received (“Winner”). An entrant is identified as a Winner by being randomly selected by an online randomizer tool. The Winner will be contacted by Monday, April 18, 2022 by email or phone with instructions on how to receive their prize. The Winner will be required to respond (as directed) to their notification to redeem prize. Failure to respond in the required fashion or within the required timeframe as established in the notification may result in forfeiture of the prize and, in such case, Sponsor may select an alternate entrant from among the remaining eligible entries. Winner may be listed and tagged in a social media post to share the winner with the public. 

  5. ODDS OF WINNING: The odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received. 

  6. PRIZE:  One (1) winner will receive one (1) free enrollment in an upcoming course in any of the following UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education programs: Data Analytics Professional Certificate, Data Analytics: Business Partner Professional Concentration, Data Analytics: Essentials Professional Concentration, Front-End Development Certificate, Python for Data Science, Web and Core Programming Professional Concentration (“Class”). Prize is valued between $560-$940, cannot be converted to cash and no refund will be made. Prize cannot be applied to a class the Winner is currently enrolled in or taken in the past. Winner must meet any eligibility requirements for the Class. Prize is non-transferrable. If prize cannot be awarded due to circumstances beyond the control of Sponsor, a substitute prize of equal or greater retail value may be awarded. Prize must be redeemed within one (1) year of selection of Winner.  

  7. CONDITIONS: Contest is subject to these Official Rules. By participating, entrants agree: (i) to be bound by these complete Official Rules and the decisions of Sponsor which shall be final and binding; (ii) to waive any rights pertaining to participating in the prize and contest, and (iii) to waive any right to claim ambiguity in the Contest or these Official Rules, except where prohibited by law.  By accepting a prize, winner agrees to release Sponsor, together with the respective directors, employees, officers, and agents of each, including without limitation, their respective advertising and promotion entities and any person or entity associated with the production, judging, or administration of the Contest, (collectively, the Releasees) from any and all liability, loss or damage arising from or in connection with awarding, receipt and/or use or misuse of prize or participation in any prize-related activities.  Taxes, if any, are the sole responsibility of Selected Entrant.  This Contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law, and subject to applicable federal, state provincial and local laws.  Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entrant it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or violating these Official Rules. The Releasees shall not be liable for: (i) late, lost, delayed, stolen, misdirected, incomplete unreadable, inaccurate, garbled or unintelligible entries, communications or affidavits, regardless of the method of transmission; (ii) telephone system, telephone or computer hardware, software or other technical or computer malfunctions, lost connections, disconnections, delays or transmission errors; (iii) data corruption, theft, destruction, unauthorized access to or alteration of entry or other materials; (iv) any injuries, losses or damages of any kind caused by the prize or resulting from acceptance, possession or use of a prize, or from participation in the Contest; (v) any printing, typographical, administrative or technological errors in any materials associated with the Contest, or (vi) any injuries, losses or damages of any kind, including death caused by the prize, or resulting from acceptance, participation in or use of the prize or from participation in the Contest. 

  8. Sponsor disclaims any liability for damage to any computer system resulting from participating in, or accessing or downloading information in connection with this Contest, and reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, modify or suspend the Contest should a virus, bug, computer problem, unauthorized intervention or other causes beyond Sponsor’s’ control, corrupt the administration, security or proper play of the Contest.  Sponsor may prohibit an entrant from participating in the Contest or winning prize if, in its sole discretion, it determines such entrant is attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest by cheating, hacking, deception, or any other unfair playing practices of intending to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other players or Sponsor’s representatives.  Disputes regarding these Official Rules and/or this Contest will be governed by the internal laws of the State of California with the exception of its choice of law rules.  Any and all legal actions or claims arising in connection with this Contest must be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction within the United States. 

  9. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE THE WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST MAY BE IN VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION FROM PARTICIPATION IN THE CONTEST.  SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSORS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO SEEK REMEDIES AND DAMAGES (INCLUDING ATTORNEY FEES) TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW, INCLUDING CRIMINAL PROSECUTION 

  10. OFFICIAL RULES: Official rules are posted to cpe.ucdavis.edu. 

  11. All Entry information collected in connection with this Contest shall be accessible by UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education. Such information may be used by the University of California to contact each entrant directly with marketing or other information. By participating in this Contest, each entrant hereby consents to such use.
