Expanding Broadband Deployment through Community Roadmap Planning

Online

The new Federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and State Broadband for All legislation will support future-proof broadband infrastructure expansion. Communities need to be ready to identify, plan, design, propose and implement broadband infrastructure projects (middle- and last-mile deployments) in order to achieve their goal of connected, digitally inclusive communities.

To meet their connectivity goals for unserved and underserved residential users, businesses, and institutions (i.e., education, first responders, economic development, etc.), communities will need to develop comprehensive roadmaps that identify needs, gaps and quantifiable benefits leading to proposed strategies and action plans.

Students will learn how to begin the process of developing a roadmap and the importance of including a technology plan, a business model and how to identify opportunities and establish partnerships to amplify the impact on businesses, programs and economic growth.
