Using GIS for Cannabis Regulation
GIS is key to transparency. It provides local government with the ability to map the various commercial and residential sectors in a community. This class will introduce students to concepts in GIS for cannabis regulation. Using ArcGIS Pro 2.3 and ArcGIS Online, students will learn how to make maps and web mapping applications for cannabis regulation purposes. Students are expected to have previous GIS experience or have taken an introduction to GIS course. Students will learn the following concepts:
- Introduction to cannabis laws at the city, county and State level
- Introduction to ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online
- Introduction and review of layer types in ArcGIS Online
- Introduction to Geocoding in ArcGIS Pro
- Building Web Apps using ArcGIS Online Web App Builder

This is an online, remote learning course, which consists of content and curriculum that is taught with pre-recorded and real time lectures, in addition to real-time lecture/Q&A sessions with the instructors. Pre-recorded lectures and live sessions are accessed via our Canvas learning system and Zoom.

Attendance is mandatory to receive credit for this course.
