Al and Marcy have come up with another baseball movie series, this time, all in black and white. Remember all those great black and white movies of the 1940s and 1950s? You didn’t need Technicolor to lose yourself in the touching stories of baseball heroes such as Lou Gehrig, Dizzy Dean and Monty Stratton. To start off, we’ll bring you It Happens Every Spring, a 1949 bit of silliness starring Ray Milland and Jean Peters. Then we’ll show The Pride of St. Louis (with Dan Dailey as Dizzy Dean), The Stratton Story (starring James Stewart) and The Pride of the Yankees (starring Gary Cooper as Lou Gehrig).
