The Biology Independent Study course offers students the opportunity to explore a specific area of biological science in depth, with the guidance and mentorship of an instructor. Students will explore advanced research, develop critical thinking skills, and deepen their understanding of biological concepts through independent study.
Throughout the course, students will collaborate closely with the instructor to design and choose a comprehensive research question in a chosen area of biology. The project will culminate in a written report, which will be assessed for academic rigor, depth of analysis, and clarity of presentation. The report will be required to be between 15 to 20 pages in length, covering topics such as cellular biology, genetics, ecology, physiology, or any other area of biology, depending on the student’s interests.
