In this course, we’ll examine the Book of Psalms in the Bible as a work of literature. In particular, we will consider the book of Psalms as the Hymnal of the Second Temple. We will give particular attention to various individual psalms from 1,000 to 400 BCE, from the time that David’s army captured Jerusalem to the building of the Second Temple.
