Investigating portrayals of crime through failure, misjudgment and unexpected consequences, this course focuses on botched heists, reluctant criminals, characters born or entangled in crime, and innocent bystanders. These films depict flawed choices, moral ambiguity and social pressures that draw people—knowingly or not—into criminal worlds. Films: Pixie (2020 Ireland), Heroic Losers (2019 Argentina), Love Lies Bleeding (2024 USA) and L’Innocent (2022 France).
