Professionals must often communicate technical and scientific information to general audiences or those who do not share a technical or scientific vocabulary. This course will help personnel in the public and non-profit sectors deliver information more effectively to internal and external audiences. Participants will learn how to assess their own communication skills, develop plans for targeted improvements and employ effective techniques used by successful communicators. Course participants will also be able to identify and assess the needs of their targeted audiences in order to plan, design and develop messages that accurately and concisely relay critical technical and scientific information. The instructor and guest speakers will engage participants with a combination of discussion, collaboration, hands-on exercises and lecture.
