This course is designed to help teachers reflect on the labels and classifications applied to "English Learners" that affect their educational development, and to explore how to integrate this knowledge and these tools to design new lesson plans that better address the students' needs and characteristics. Prepare teachers to identify, select, and analyze linguistically and culturally appropriate texts that foster a love of reading in their students, reflect who they are and their cultural and linguistic richness, and promote awareness and reflection on social injustice and justice.
