As a group, participants will ponder and discuss a variety of questions both ethical and legal about California’s “End of Life Options Act” (SB 128). What does it mean to say any law is or is not morally good and what reasons justify a yes or no answer? What are the eight elements of prudent-policy-making and does SB 128 satisfy them? Do we grasp that universal premise, which says that people have a right to end their lives or only have six months to live? We’ll look back at history and what we’ve learned from those exposed to similar laws in Oregon and the Netherlands.
