In our constantly changing economy, businesses are seeking agents of change to keep up, adapt and find data-driven solutions to help their business thrive. Designed for people responsible for change management, project managers or professionals charged with solving business problems, this online course will lay the foundation for understanding the roles and responsibilities of a business analyst in enabling change in an organization. Through lecture and interactive, instructor-led web meeting sessions, students will be introduced to the Business Analysis Core Concept Model (BACCM), learning key knowledge areas, such as planning and monitoring, elicitation and collaboration, requirements management and analysis, solution evaluation, stakeholder engagement and more. Learners will also practice common skills needed to succeed as a business analyst, including problem solving and communication. At the end of this course, students will be prepared to apply their skills as a business analyst in enabling change, and will possess the vocabulary and basic skills necessary to begin applying these principles in their organization.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the role, tasks, and value of a business analyst
  • Distinguish the similarities and differences between business analysis and project management
  • Utilize the BACCM to analyze problems and develop solutions
  • Differentiate between and select an appropriate system development methodology (i.e., LEAN Six Sigma, Agile, Waterfall) for a given project
  • Identify and engage with stakeholders and manage their expectations
