Explore the various fields within public administration and how to apply their analytic lenses, diagnostic tools and applications in real-world public agencies. Examine the fundamental components of public administration and management, including organizational design and networks, leadership, ethics, performance management and policy implementation, within the unique context of democratic governance, politics and the public sector. You will leave the course with a better understanding of how and why public managers may succeed or fail, and how they can strengthen the performance and legitimacy of their agencies. Also covered are the evolving roles of technology, big data and innovation in public administration, along with key differences between private and public management.
