The third installment of our series on the early Republic will pick-up with the Age of Jackson. We will explore the economic development issues that divided Democrats and Whigs and how each party attempted to keep slavery out of national politics. They were ultimately unsuccessful as the movement to abolish slavery began to change the tenor of politics between North and South.
