This final segment of the course will focus on the events that lead to the outbreak of the American Civil War. This will include the Compromise of 1850, the Kansas Nebraska Act and the Dred Scott decision. The rise of Abraham Lincoln and his rivalry with Stephen Douglas will also be featured, as will the southern point of view.
