Gain insight into animal welfare challenges in dairy production. In the morning, explore the day in the life of a dairy cow and the farm production cycle. We’ll identify key animal welfare concerns, while highlighting how both academics and the dairy industry are addressing these issues and what dairy cattle welfare means for consumers. In the afternoon, we will tour the UC Davis Dairy Teaching and Research Facility.
Note: The tour portion of this course will include prolonged periods of walking and standing for discussion. Driving directions for the tour will be provided at the lecture.
