Negotiation: Working Through Conflict

Conflict seems to be on a growth curve—whether it’s between individuals, groups, institutions or even nations. Whatever the level, the options for dealing with conflict are often unpleasant or costly in material ways. The most promising, long-term way to deal with conflict is through negotiation. This lecture will be grounded in the precepts of interest-based bargaining, a framework first developed by the Harvard Negotiation Project and its most widely cited book, Getting To Yes. Learn about a few conceptual tools, as well as some in-practice approaches to working through conflict.
