OLLI Reads

OLLI Reads is a free Zoom discussion group centered on shared reading and thoughtful conversation. Participants read selected works independently and then gather online for facilitated discussion focused on ideas, themes and perspectives.

We will read three stories of female heroes. Sept. 25: Isola by Allegra Goodman. A young French noblewoman and her lover are marooned on an island in this 16th-century historic epic of love, faith and defiance. Oct. 23: The Sea Captain’s Wife by Tilar J. Mazzeo. The true 19th-century story of the first female captain of a merchant ship and her treacherous Antarctic journey. Nov. 13: Finding My Way by Malala Yousafzai. How does a superstar Nobel Prize-winning child find her way into adulthood and her own identity? Discussion questions and additional materials will be provided. No lectures—just reading, reflecting and engaging conversation. Free and open to all OLLI members.
