Enjoy an introduction to the research field of organic electronics: electronic elements made from a majority of carbon materials. Organic electronics have been research for the last 40 years but are now starting to reach commercial technology in areas like displays, photovoltaics and chemical sensors. Organic materials are useful for electronic applications because their chemistry can be carefully tailored for specific properties like lightweight, flexibility, bio-compatibility, color index and solution “processability.” The Moule Group works in the area of organic semiconductor processing and patterning for device applications and this presentation will cover both the basic science as well as specific ideas in current research.
