“Water, water everywhere, nor any drop to drink.” Our California drought is a special facet of a larger growing problem faced by the entire planet, the result of increasing population, climate change and usage policies. Water supply, not oil, could trigger the next world war. We will review the water systems we use, their limits and challenges, and then we’ll discuss California’s water issues. We’ll highlight water sources, surface and ground water distribution, conservation and new technologies, as well as the politics and policies behind water legislation past, present and future. Yes, as we say in the west, “whiskey is for drinkin’ and water’s for fightin’ for.”
