Pitfalls and Oversights of Designing Fire Protection Systems

This one day course will focus on code provisions and national standards of fire protection designs for fire alarms, fire sprinkler systems, standpipes, fire pumps, smoke control systems and public safety communication systems. It will also cover the practical uses of these features including design flaws. Through lecture and discussion, this course will address the cost of these systems, relative to the level of safety they provide, as well as identify potential alternatives that still meet regulatory standards.

The class is meant for design professionals, architects, builders, facilities managers, civil engineers, safety coordinators or anyone responsible for design, engineering or managing fire protection systems in their organizations. It is taught by fire-fighting and enforcement professionals and will include scenarios drawn from real life.

Class participants should have some basic knowledge of the California codes of regulations and various national fire protection standards.
