Join fellow OLLI members for a sublime Zoom piano concert and lecture featuring nationally acclaimed pianist Nathan Carterette. Travel back in time to old Vienna, from the days of the Classics (Mozart, Haydn) to the flowering of the Romantics (Schubert, Brahms) to the decadence of fin-de-siecle hedonism (Johann Strauss, Godowsky). No city is as central to classical music history as Vienna, and no place evokes such nostalgia and sensual remembrance.
To ensure the best quality sound for the lecture/performance, the lecture and performance segment of this course will be offered via Zoom in a pre-recorded concert created especially for OLLI at UC Davis. A live introductory segment with Carterette and a live question and answer segment for the audience will be included at the conclusion of the performance in the same Zoom classroom.
