This course is a 3.0 CEU option for registered participants of the Sacramento County Office of Education's workshop Reaching All Students: Tools for Teaching in Title I Schools. This five-day series is designed for elementary educators teaching in Title I schools. Participants will learn about the California State Standards in English/Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics 1, as well as the newly adopted California English Language Development Standards. They will have the option to focus on ELA or Mathematics, and they'll also learn about the systems and practices of California's multi-tiered system of support and response to instruction and intervention (MTSS/Rt12). Participants will also explore how effective classroom management, cultural proficiency and an understanding of positive youth development, school safety, violence prevention, substance abuse prevention and mental health promotion shape a more culturally responsive and respectful classroom environment for all students.
