Discuss the plays of William Shakespeare in terms of the bard’s life and the dynamic Elizabethan theatrical world in which he lived. Class members will meet Shakespeare’s friends, acting colleagues and fellow playwrights, many of whom are famous in their own right. Compare modern adaptations of some of his plays with what is known about their original productions. Several of Shakespeare’s best-known plays will be considered in depth as will the sonnets and long narrative poems.
