The purpose of this course is to focus on advanced topics in accelerator physics and its associated technology.

Students will be able to summarize the basic principles involved in the production of neutrino beams from accelerators.

Students will be able to explain the principles of particle beam optics.

Students will be able to discuss the fundamental concepts of VUV and x-ray FELs.

Students will be able to summarize the principles of the main components in superconducting linear accelerators.

Students will be able to describe the basic requirements for successful high-power target design and operation.

Students will be able to explain the fundamental concepts for designing ring injection and extraction systems.

Students will be able to discuss the theoretical topics of magnetics as applicable to the design of magnet systems for application to charged particle accelerators.
