USPAS Special Topics of Accelerator Physics

The purpose of this course is to give a theoretical foundation to the physics and technology of charged particle accelerators.

  • Students will be able to explain the physics of charged particle accelerators, with emphasis on theoretical and analytical methods of the focusing and acceleration of charged particle beams.
  • Students will be able to describe the fundamental principles of acceleration and transport of charged particle beams.
  • Students will be able to discuss Radio Frequency accelerators and beamlines for charged particle beams, with special emphasis on high-current beam dynamics and linear accelerator technology.
