Walking Tour of Historic Benicia

Just northeast of San Francisco lies the scenic hamlet of Benicia, nestled along the Carquinez Strait. Benicia is a treasure-trove of California lore with four museums featuring its colorful past. John Vanland will be our guide as we visit the Benicia Capitol State Historic Park, home of California’s oldest remaining state house, and the Benicia Historical Museum to learn more about the town’s military arsenal and the role it played in both World Wars. After a no-host lunch at nearby restaurants, we’ll take a brief walking tour of a portion of historic First Street. NOTE: Due to circumstances beyond our control, date has been changed to September 29.

Note: Bus trip to Benicia, Calif. Meet at UC Davis Extension, 1333 Research Park Dr., Parking Lot 81, at 9 a.m. to board the bus.
