Walt Disney Museum Tour

The Walt Disney Family Museum, which opened in October 2009, is located in San Francisco’s famed Presidio. The Walt Disney Family Foundation converted a multi-story army barracks into a $110-million museum dedicated to the life and career of Walt Disney. The lobby of the museum contains an impressive collection of awards received by Walt Disney over his illustrious career, followed by 10 galleries depicting his life through the use of cutting-edge technology. The instructor will lecture on the bus trip to San Francisco with a self-guided tour to follow at the museum. In addition to the galleries, the museum has a gift shop and a small café, with additional restaurants nearby on the Presidio grounds. It should be noted that the museum is owned by the Walt Disney Family Foundation and is not part of the Walt Disney Company. Note: Bus trip to San Francisco. Meet at UC Davis Extension, 1333 Research Park Dr., Parking Lot 81, at 8:15 a.m. to board the bus. Participants must be able to get on the bus on their own and be able to walk through the museum and surrounding grounds unassisted. Entrance fee to The Walt Disney Family Museum is included. Participants are responsible for their own lunch in the café or the nearby restaurant which is within reasonable walking distance. Registration required by April 27. Limited enrollment.
