In this seminar Dr. Yellowlees will describe his history and experiences of attempting to improve access to mental health care during his career, ranging from the Australian outback to native American reservations, public and private practice, and academic medical centers. He will focus primarily on the dysfunctional US mental health “system”, and how it creates massive inefficiencies for clinicians, and barriers to access for patients. He is optimistic however, and will demonstrate some solutions for the future, especially involving artificial intelligence and other technologies. Audience participation throughout the session is encouraged.
