Both instructors lived in WW II Japanese American internment camps—one by choice and one by law. Using their own experiences, personal primary sources and other materials, they will explore various aspects of the internment. This course is being offered on February 18, the day before the date in 1942 that Executive Order 9066 was signed, leading to the internment of 120,000 U.S. residents of Japanese ancestry. This course is a repeat of the class taught in Winter 2014.
