Real to Reel: Cinema and the 19th-Century World
Film is a common way audiences encounter history yet often dismissed as entertainment. Many films blend storytelling with cultural and political insight. This course examines four films—The French Can Can, Harriet, Tesla and Samurai in Time—to explore the 19th-century’s social struggles, technological change and lasting impact on the modern world.

Course enrollments close two (2) business days before the course start date. To receive a refund, withdrawal requests must be submitted by this same deadline. No refunds are given after the refund deadline. All withdrawal requests are subject to a $10 processing fee. If OLLI cancels a course, participants will receive a full refund.
