Shape Communities. Guide Smarter Development.
Land use planning influences how California communities grow, where housing and infrastructure are built and how economic development, environmental stewardship and quality of life are balanced. As communities respond to increasing demands related to housing, sustainability and climate resilience, planning professionals need a strong understanding of the policies, regulations and financial considerations that shape development decisions.
The Land Use Planning Professional Program provides comprehensive training in California's planning system through five integrated courses covering planning principles, General Plans, specific plans, environmental law and planning finance. Designed for planners, consultants, public agency staff and professionals involved in community development, you'll gain the practical knowledge needed to navigate California's planning process and support informed, sustainable decision making.
