CPE is a driving force in educating and empowering California’s workforce. Through statewide contracts and grants with public and private organizations, we support:
- Water professionals who ensure that clean water is accessible to California’s 40-million citizens and that our levees and dams are safe from natural hazards
- 12+ state departments by training staff and managers in leadership, DEI, communications, health and safety, environmental oversight and many other core job skills
- 42,000+ social workers and other public, nonprofit and tribal human services professionals who serve California’s most vulnerable citizens

Title IV-E Education Program Fortifying the Future of California’s Child Welfare Workforce
On July 1, 2024, UC Davis and UCLA began administering the California Title IV-E Education Program, which provides professional education and financial support to undergraduate and graduate social work students pursuing or continuing a career in public child welfare. The $52.4 million contract from the California Department of Social Services was the largest award for UC Davis in 2023-24 and will be used to co-administer the program at California’s 20 colleges with bachelor’s and master’s programs in social work.
