We hope that you are all in the best possible health and discovering ways to stay meaningfully occupied or getting the rest you need to maintain a positive outlook during this new reality.
It’s been enlightening to hear from you and learn what you’ve been doing at home. Some folks are taking time to reduce clutter around the house and clean garages, others are taking ZOOM home-exercise courses online and many are sharing the titles of their favorite movies and TV shows recently discovered on Netflix, Amazon and other streaming services. We love hearing from you so keep the emails to OLLI coming!
We are excited to announce that our OLLI at UC Davis YouTube channel is now live. There are five different OLLI courses offered for our members' viewing pleasure, featuring a variety of subject areas. To receive the links to this week’s YouTube courses, you do need to have a current (spring 2020) OLLI membership. If your membership is active, you will automatically receive these links in a separate email. If your paid membership has lapsed, please contact our Student Services team to reactivate it. You may do so by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling (530) 757-8777. Whether you use email or phone, please include a phone number where the staff may call you back, as they are working remotely from home and may not be able to answer when you call.
Our first live Zoom course took place this morning. Our special thanks goes out to OLLI instructor Gopal Kapur for stepping into the 21st-century learning landscape with his four-week course, Enigma of Brilliance. Gopal’s class will examine the lives of four world-changing innovators from Gandhi to Steve Jobs. We had an exceptional online learning experience with very few technical hiccups, but that’s all a part of the adventure of lifelong learning – we are all in this together. If you’re getting bored with TV, reading and housekeeping, you can still register for OLLI courses and participate in something live and enlightening with your friends in OLLI.
For other classes scheduled for this week, please watch your emails for updates. If you’re registered in a course, we’ll let the registrants of each class know if it’s being delayed, cancelled or taking place online. You may already have received an email about Timely Topics or The Atlantic at Pacific, which have both chosen to take a hiatus for the quarter.
Please note that due to the evolving nature of the coronavirus, courses may need to be rescheduled to later dates, adapted to online formats or cancelled to ensure the safety of students, instructors and staff. Please check with the OLLI staff by email prior to registering online for a course. Send your inquiry to email@example.com
If you need to reach us, our email address, firstname.lastname@example.org, is still the best way to connect with OLLI staff.
Again, the OLLI leadership and staff wish you health, safety and the comforts of home through this remarkable time in our history.
