Opera and Resistance

From Figaro to Tosca to Nabucco’s Hebrew slaves, opera celebrates people who stand up to power. We’ll explore the theme of resistance in classic and modern operas by Mozart, Beethoven, Verdi, Puccini and Glass. We’ll also examine Andrea Chénier, broadcasting live to cinemas this fall from The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
