Public Real Estate Transactions
Hone your understanding of the public real estate transaction process with essential knowledge for anyone in the public or nonprofit sectors involved in the acquisition, resale, appraisal or management of public property. Learn the fundamental processes that must be followed, whether for road right-of-ways, public works projects, parks, open space, agricultural or habitat easements, utilities or other purposes. Through detailed case studies, you will learn:
- Due diligence procedures for appraisals
- Hazardous materials assessments
- Insurance, title searches, liens and loans, as well as negotiation strategies with multiple agencies and parties

This is an online, remote learning course, which consists of content and curriculum that is taught with pre-recorded and real time lectures, in addition to a real-time Q&A session with the instructors. Pre-recorded lectures and live sessions are accessed via our Canvas learning system and Zoom. Details regarding login information, the availability of lectures and the time(s) of instructor Q&As will be emailed out prior to the course start date.
The course will be available on Canvas from July 7, 2021 - July 9, 2021. There will be a live session held via Zoom on July 8, 2021 from 1:00PM - 3:00PM PST.
We allow registration through the first morning of the course. We cannot extend course access beyond 11:59 PM on Friday 7/9, so students pursuing a late enrollment acknowledge that they will have less time to complete the materials. Please contact the course representative with any questions.
