Who Should Attend
This workshop is designed for:
- College students and educators
- IT professionals (including programmers and other roles engaged in software development and network engineering involved in securing applications)
- Professionals with at least one year of experience coding with a programming language BUT who do not have, or are just starting to develop, secure programming skills
What You'll Learn
This practice-rich 8-hour workshop quickly gives you a basic understanding of secure programming principles and the capability to write secure and robust code in simple common cases. After this workshop, you will be able to:
- Explain why secure programming is important
- Explain how software vulnerabilities are identified, documented, and communicated.
- Define and use principles of secure programming
- Identify and assess the technical aspects of specific software weaknesses and their remediation
- Discuss the importance of compliance and legal requirements associated with programming
Logistics and How to Apply
The workshop will be taught online via virtual classroom technology. Students will be expected to attend during a single day from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM Eastern time (there will be a half-hour break for lunch). Workshops are taught by Worcester Polytechnic Institute and University of Maryland, Baltimore County and are planned for the following dates (please note that dates may change):
