Are The Stars Out Today?

Join your fellow OLLI stargazers for a tour of the planetarium at Sierra College in Rocklin, Calif. Astronomy Professor David Dunn will present a onehour presentation in the Sewell Hall Planetarium entitled “Wonders of Astronomy.” This lecture-demonstration will showcase our present understanding of the universe with a multimedia arrangement that includes a slide show, a hands-on activity and the projection of star images on the planetarium dome. After a brief break, information will be shared regarding the development of the planetarium and its history, as well as questions and answers. Note: Bus trip to Rocklin. Meet at UC Davis Extension, 1333 Research Park Dr., Parking Lot 81, at 8:30 a.m. to board the bus. Participants must be able to get on the bus on their own and be able to walk through the venue and surrounding grounds unassisted. Class fee includes bus transportation and entrance fee to the planetarium. We will stop for a no-host lunch before returning to Davis. Must enroll before February 10. Further details will be mailed to participants before the trip. Limited enrollment.
