This course covers the foundations of elementary school mathematics. It provides an understanding of fundamental mathematics necessary to teach for conceptual understanding and higher-level reasoning and problem solving. Topics include conceptual understanding of place value, fractions, proportionality, geometry, algebra, functions, probability, statistics and measurement. Examine instructional applications of these concepts in grades K-8 teaching.
