Practical Application of Writing Skills in CEQA Documents

This course provides a hands-on learning opportunity for writing effective, legally defensible CEQA documents. Framed around a hypothetical project, students will be led through writing exercises, drafting a project description for a Negative Declaration and then outlining the regulatory, setting and impact analysis section for their selected resource. Working in groups, students will review common issues when preparing CEQA documents, including data needs, appropriate level of detail and approach to analysis. And, finally, the class will conclude with a discussion of the alternatives analysis and cumulative analysis.
