It begins with a history of the Ethnic Studies Movement and leads into the Guiding Values and Principles of Ethnic Studies from the California Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum. From there, the majority of readings, lectures, and discussions are centered on the major themes and tenets of the four disciplines of Ethnic Studies-- African American Studies, Native American Studies, Asian American and Pacific Islander Studies, and Chicano and Latinx Studies.
