Health and Safety for Workers: Laws and Regulations
Learn the relevant laws and regulations pertaining to occupational health and safety, including Cal/OSHA and federal OSHA; criminal considerations, such as supervisors’ and managers’ responsibilities; workers’ compensation jurisdiction, claims and benefits; the claims process and program administration; and legal liability. Case studies illustrate both simple and complex issues.
Administering health and safety programs requires up-to-the-minute, working knowledge of laws and regulations. Learn to use the Internet to research the most current regulations during a computer lab session. This course is for individuals who have interests in, or responsibilities for, administering occupational health and safety programs. This is a required course for the Workplace Health and Safety Manager Certificate Program.
Section Notes
This is an online, remote learning course, which consists of content and curriculum that is taught with pre-recorded and real time lectures, in addition to real-time lecture/Q&A sessions with the instructors. Pre-recorded lectures and live sessions are accessed via our Canvas learning system and Zoom. Details regarding login information, the availability of lectures and the time(s) of instructor Q&As will be emailed out prior to the course start date.
This course opens February 23-26 with live sessions on February 24, 2-4 pm and 25, 3-5 pm.
