The Sound of Music in Film: An Introduction

Music has infused films with emotion since the 1920s—even before spoken dialogue! Explore its effect on a variety of film categories from the Sound of Music and Cabaret to Titanic and Ben Hur, as well as the blockbusters Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Harry Potter. We’ll discuss the cultural and social messages of films and scores and their musical features.

Instructors: Harriet March Page is an actor/director opera singer and founder of Goat Hall Productions, producing musical and dramatic works reflecting world cultures and diversity.

Tony Tanke is a veteran OLLI instructor and lifelong devotee of symphonic music and movies.
