Developing and Writing Effective CEQA Documents

Learn a step-by-step approach to preparing and writing CEQA documents. Project managers will learn how to set up their projects to improve author efficiency, effectiveness and client satisfaction. CEQA authors will gain skills for writing clear, concise CEQA sections that address client needs. Editors will receive a complete overview of the document preparation process and their role in that process. In this activities-based workshop, you will discuss outlining, write sections, develop techniques for tracking references and critique project start-up packets and other materials.

Section Notes

This is an online, remote learning course, which consists of 12 hours of content and curriculum that is taught with pre-recorded lectures as well as at least one mandatory live Zoom session with the instructor(s). Pre-recorded lectures and live sessions are accessed via our Canvas learning system and Zoom. This course is the same length as a standard 2 day, in-person course, please be sure to plan your schedule accordingly. 

This course is open May 12 – May 15, 2026, with mandatory live sessions on May 12-May 15 9:30 AM-12:00 PM PST and optional, but highly recommended, live sessions May 12-May 15 1:00 - 2:00 PM PST. 

Attendance of the mandatory live sessions is required to receive credit for this course.  

We cannot extend course access beyond 11:59 PM on last day of class, so students pursuing a late enrollment acknowledge that they will have less time to complete the materials. Please contact the course representative with any questions.
